Self-Guided MOOSE Hunt 

Who we are:

Veteran-owned and operated transporter that provides transportation for do-it-yourself (DIY) Moose hunts.

What we offer:

  • 10-day (DIY) Self-Guided Moose Hunt ($5,000 per person)**Transportation Only**

    • Additional animals allowed to be Harvested 3 Black Bear, and 10 Wolves during this hunt.

  • Instate Resident Prices ($4,000 per person) **Transportation Only**

  • **20% off for Active Duty/Retired Military (anyone who has served), Fire Fighters (Active or retired), and Police Officers (Active or retired)** (must be able to show proof on the date of booking) (Does not apply to walk-on hunts)

Dates:

  • Trips are from 15 September – 25 September

  • All flights into Coldfoot must arrive before the 15th with flights leaving Coldfoot after the 25th; this is so we can ensure you are on ground for the morning pick-up on the 15th and after your hunt, we don’t want to have a time hack on the last day of your hunt so we can properly take care of your Harvest.

Our trips include:

  • Transportation of you and your gear via vehicle from the Lodging in Coldfoot, Alaska to the boat launch (20 miles south)

  • Transportation of you and your gear via airboat up the Koyukuk River to your drop campsite.

  • Transportation of you and your gear back to Lodging in Coldfoot, Alaska

  • Transportation of  your animal(s) from pick up point (drop camp @ rivers edge) back to Fairbanks Air Cargo (we will meet you there so plan appropriately)

Drop Camp Equipment Rental:

  • We do not provide any equipment to you "the hunter" you can bring your own drop camp gear or rent from a gear rental company.

  • DHO Rentals is the only rental company we have a contract with to transport gear  from fairbanks Alaska to Coldfoot, Alaska. See the DHO Rentals tab here on our site or email DHO Rentals at dhorentals@gmail.com if you are interested in seeing what they offer. 

  • If bringing your own gear, or renting from another rental company please keep camp weight at 125lbs or less.

What we cannot do (because we are not hunting guides):

  • Cannot escort you into or out of the field, assist with field dressing of animal or movement of an animal to the pickup point (rivers edge)

  • We cannot provide you with the location of Moose while you are in the field. 

  • We cannot assist you in the loading and unloading of  your hunting gear, camp gear, and or harvested animals.

What you provide (not included in price):

  • Flight to Fairbanks, AK ($600 – $1,500 Depending on the airline, deals, etc…)

  • Lodging

  • Out of state hunting license ($160), Moose harvest tag and Locking tag ($800), Black Bear Harvest tag and Locking tag x3 ($450ea), Wolf x10 (no harvest tag or locking tag required)** All must be purchased prior to arrival to Coldfoot. **All tags dependent on what you want to hunt**

  • Hunting License and Harvest tag can be printed from your computer.

  • Locking tags are mailed to you.  Please note that tags take approximately 6 weeks to be delivered. Tags can also be picked up at the Department of Fish and Game in Fairbanks, Alaska.

  • Clothes and rain gear (appropriate for the area) (do your research or contact us we can help you with what to bring) *Max of 70lbs for clothes and gear (1 dry bag and 1 empty frame pack) *

  • Weapons *not included in the gear weight*

  • You can bring TWO 130-quart cooler on the boat to camp (no more than two), additional coolers can be stored at the boat launch. (cooler with food and drinks not included in gear weight* *this is per group*

  • Food/drinks/alcohol

Accommodations not at camp:

  • there is only one camp in Coldfoot.  Coldfoot camp has showers and other amenities. Please coordinate prior by calling Coldfoot Camp @ 907-474-3500 or through website https://www.coldfootcamp.com/

  • You need to arrive a day early (14 Sep) and depart the day after your hunt (26 Sep). You also need to plan on staying an extra day or two in Fairbanks prior to making your trip home. This allows time to ensure your meat and trophy gets shipped. Also, this allows you time to ensure your wolf(s) and black bear are sealed through department of fish and game if harvested.

  • ***ALL BLACK BEAR AND WOLF MUST BE SEALED PRIOR TO LEAVING THE STATE OF ALASKA***

Shipping of meat and Mount:

  • We will transport your meat/mounts from Cold Foot to Fairbanks for you. we will drive your meat/mount to either Alaska Air Cargo or Sophie Station (Plan discussed on the ground) The trip takes us anywhere between 8 and 10 Hrs. to make. You will most likely beat us to Fairbanks. Once we arrive in Fairbanks, we will call you to coordinate drop off.

  • Once you and your meat/trophy have arrived in Fairbanks, all will be shipped through Alaska Air Cargo. Prices dependent on weight and box sizes.   • The taxidermist that we recommend in state is Caribou Ridge Taxidermy. You can check out his work at http://www.caribouridgetaxidermy.com/  He can pick your mount up at the Fairbanks airport and contact you to ensure it’s done the way you want.

COMMUNICATION:

  • You will not be provided any communication equipment for your hunt (see information packet for more details) We only operate with Garmin INREACH

Payment:

  • We require a 50% nonrefundable down payment on the date of booking.

  • The other 50% must be paid by 01 August the year of your hunt.

  • There is a 3.4% processing fee that is charged by square.
